Obama “accused” of being Muslim

Yup. Read that title a few times before you read on to let it sink in.

This has been all over the place, especially Fox News, and it’s completely ridiculous. First and foremost, he isn’t Muslim. While living in Indonesia, he once attended a school that was mostly Muslim for a few years, in addition to attending a Catholic school for a few years, but it’s not like it was a religious choice; it was his mother’s decision, based on what she thought would get him the best education. He’s obviously Christian. But the worst part of the whole thing is that the right wing media is using this as an attack, that they think if they convince the American people he’s Muslim then he’ll be hated. And, for a good part of the population, they sadly might be right.

From his book The Audacity of Hope:

During the five years that we would live with my stepfather in Indonesia, I was sent first to a neighborhood Catholic school and then to a predominantly Muslim school; in both cases, my mother was less concerned with me learning the catechism or puzzling out the meaning of the muezzin’s call to evening prayer than she was with whether I was properly learning my multiplication tables.

About probabilityZero

I'm a rather boring, geeky college student. Most of my time is spent at a computer, reading a book, or sitting in (mostly uninteresting) classes. My hobbies include reading, blogging, creating and running websites, creating amateur video games, arguing incessantly on discussion forums, and buying books on amazon.com because I'm too lazy to go to the library.

The Daily Show covered Fox and their pathetic attempt to paint obama as ‘muslim’

    evil bastards

    bah, racist fucks

  3. Anonymous says:

    faux news is never truthful

  4. Hammer says:

He may not be a Muslim, but his name rhymes with Osama and his father’s middle name was Hussein. All the spin in the world ain’t gonna convince the average American that those coincidences don’t mean anything, even if they don’t.

  5. bobb says:

Well, at least he didn’t get swiftboat’ed.

  6. fruitbythefoot says:

Hammer: Yeah, with his name, he’s facing an uphill battle…

Well, at least he didn’t get swiftboat’ed.

    I second that!

    Most mainstream news is.

no wonder we are one of the most hated nations in the world. We can’t even be open minded within our own borders.

    muslim…sweet

  11. Anonymous says:

all mainstream news is bias, but fox makes it too obvious, to the point of being propaganda. It’s unprofessional of these journalists.

  12. LOUDelf says:

So what if he was Muslim when he was little? Does it really matter?

  13. LOUDEF: It shouldn’t, obviously, but in reality it’s a very effective attack. As I said in the OP, the worst part of this whole thing is that convincing people Obama’s Muslim in some cases is enough to convince them not to support him. Like being Muslim is somehow a very bad thing, and the Republican noise machine is “exposing” Obama’s secret Muslim past.

  14. leah says:

fox are nutters they think that talkin’ bout OBAMA’S past will get dem anywer in lyf well der idiots to think that this will get in his way of becoming a great+ liked president and so what if he went to a muslim school when he was younger it dosent mean dat he was/is muslim!!!!!!!!!

although i reckon people won’t take so much of a notice in america anyway because OBAMA is a great man and he is one fo those people that fight fir what they want and thats obviously what he did to become president so i rate him 4 dat!!!

  15. give me some excellent ideas. thanks man
