First openly atheistic congressmen

It’s official: Rep. Fortney “Pete” Stark, D-California, is the first atheistic congressmen. Well, first to admit it.

He made the announcement on March 12 (yeah I’m late, but I’ve been busy).

I look forward to working with the Secular Coalition to stop the promotion of narrow religious beliefs in science, marriage contracts, the military and the provision of social service

About probabilityZero

I'm a rather boring, geeky college student. Most of my time is spent at a computer, reading a book, or sitting in (mostly uninteresting) classes. My hobbies include reading, blogging, creating and running websites, creating amateur video games, arguing incessantly on discussion forums, and buying books on amazon.com because I'm too lazy to go to the library.

I dunno, I think that for a while, any Atheists in congress should simply identify themselves as so, and continue doing their job. Let people get used to Atheists running things before going activist.

An atheist in high office? Maybe there really is a god! LOL

On a related note, here’s a really good atheist store I found. Well, primarily atheist and science stuff…

Maybe wearing an atheist T-shirt won’t change the world, but then again, maybe it could.
