California raises minimum wage

The California legislature passed a bill that will increase the minimum wage from $6.75 to $8 an hour by 2008. With the support of Schwarzenegger, California will have the highest minimum wage in the country.

The federal minimum wage has been set at $5.15 since 1997, and the Senate has already refused to consider a bill raising it to $7.15 by 2009. It’s good to see that minimum wages are still increasing, if only in certain states.

I'm a rather boring, geeky college student. Most of my time is spent at a computer, reading a book, or sitting in (mostly uninteresting) classes. My hobbies include reading, blogging, creating and running websites, creating amateur video games, arguing incessantly on discussion forums, and buying books on amazon.com because I'm too lazy to go to the library.

It seems that Schwarzenegger is a force for positive change. He is interested in envorinmental issues and the quality of life of the people of California. This can only be a good thing and will hopefully send a message to othere states.
