Why I hope Clinton doesn’t win the primary

It’s no secret that I’m an Obama supporter. I’ll support Clinton if she’s the candidate, but I dearly hope she isn’t. I’m not a big fan of Hilary Clinton for several reasons:

That isn’t to say I dislike Clinton. She’d certainly do a better job than Bush, and she has lots of good ideas about health care (an issue I care very much about). I just think Obama should be the candidate, and that this long and bitter primary is doing damage to the Democratic party.

EDIT: Some of the information I originally provided was inaccurate, and I’ve edited it. I should probably read sources more carefully before posting them. :P

I'm a rather boring, geeky college student. Most of my time is spent at a computer, reading a book, or sitting in (mostly uninteresting) classes. My hobbies include reading, blogging, creating and running websites, creating amateur video games, arguing incessantly on discussion forums, and buying books on amazon.com because I'm too lazy to go to the library.

Are you seriously citing an anonymous post on Presscue as your source for your first point? Did you notice that — contrary to the headline of that post, the content purports to compare bills Clinton authored which were passed into law to the number of bills Obama authored (regardless of what happened to them when they left his desk)? Did you check Thomas to see if the post was even accurate? (It isn’t.) Even if the post had been accurate, do you think authoring 152 bills during your first year in the Senate would indicate (a) due consideration for each bill and (b) an ability to work well with other senators?

Also, did you notice that your source for your third point doesn’t support your third point?

  2. I suppose I didn’t read the first source carefully enough, but the third source does support my third point. She stated “the threat and use of military force” was an acceptable option. Says that right at the bottom.

Maybe I’ll revise the first source, after reading a bit more about it.

Just for the violent video games thing I already despise her.

Nice to see you were willing to correct your mistake. Not something I see everyday from bloggers.

Basically, the main difference between Clinton and Obama is that one is a woman and the other is black. Beyond that, they’re both democrats and pretty much follow the party line.

  5. Thank you for the compliment, qwerty, but I disagree with how you characterize the primary race between Obama and Clinton. There are bigger differences between the two than just their gender and skin color.

  6. NPC says:

Pretty much the same reasons I hate her as well. I think Obama kicks her ass in the speech department as well.

I also think he’s generally cooler and more in touch with my generation. Screw Hilary, she’s like my mom…
